Description:

The Applied AI Engineer Tech Lead position can be based out of San Francisco, New York, or remote, accepting candidates from many states.
The role involves leading efforts to design, build, and optimize AI-driven solutions that impact customers and the Modern Treasury platform.
Responsibilities include leveraging state-of-the-art machine learning models to create advanced recommendation systems, improve information retrieval capabilities, and enhance natural language processing (NLP) in fintech.
The position requires collaboration with cross-functional teams, including product managers and software engineers, to translate advanced AI from research into practical, scalable products.
The ideal candidate should have a strong background in applied AI research and a passion for solving real-world problems in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements:

A Ph.D. in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Statistics, or a related quantitative field is required.
Candidates must have 7-10+ years of industry experience in applied machine learning, with a proven track record in leading projects related to recommendation systems, NLP, and information retrieval.
Strong knowledge and hands-on experience in building modern recommendation engines is essential.
Experience with NLP techniques, including transformer models and language generation, is required.
Proven experience with open-source deep learning models (e.g., BERT, GPT) and scalable training/serving infrastructure (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, Kubernetes) is necessary.
Proficiency in deploying machine learning models in production environments, including MLOps best practices, is required.
Strong programming skills in Python and experience with machine learning libraries (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow, scikit-learn) are essential.
Familiarity with cloud-based AI services (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure) is required.
The candidate must demonstrate strong collaboration skills with product managers, founders, and software engineers to build and iterate on product-focused AI solutions.
A proven track record of applying research to solve real-world, large-scale problems in production is necessary.
