Remote ASIC Physical Design Engineer, Proto (Staff, Senior, Principal)

Description:

• The company, Block, is seeking a Senior ASIC Physical Design Engineer to work on developing the next generation of mining ASIC for a bitcoin mining rig.
• The role involves performing block level P&R and integration from early RTL to final tapeout.
• Responsibilities include working closely with logic designers on block level timing closure and custom cell development.
• The position requires improving capacity and scalability of full chip design flows and developing scripts to enhance current physical design infrastructure/methodology.
• Collaboration with teammates from different functions and time zones is essential for this role.

Requirements:

• 10+ years of relevant experience with a BSEE or Applied Science degree; 8+ years with an MS degree.
• Expertise in using Synopsys ICC2/Fusion Compiler and PrimeTime.
• Understanding of the full design cycle from RTL to GDSII, including chip level.
• Prior experience with custom physical design and relative placement.
• Successful tapeout experience with multiple chips in 5nm and below.
• Familiarity with all aspects of block delivery including clock, power analysis, and physical verification.
• Proficiency in timing constraints, timing reports, and scripting languages like Python, Perl, shell, and tcl.
• Experience with Linux/Unix, text editors, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced startup environment.
• Excellent communication skills.
