Description:

  • The company, Block, is seeking a Senior ASIC Physical Design Engineer to work on developing the next generation of mining ASIC for a bitcoin mining rig.
  • The role involves performing block level P&R and integration from early RTL to final tapeout.
  • The engineer will collaborate with digital and mixed signal designers, focusing on block level timing closure and custom cell development.
  • Responsibilities include enhancing physical design infrastructure/methodology, improving design flows' capacity and scalability, and collaborating with teammates across different functions and time zones.
  • The position operates in a flat meritocracy and may be referred to as a Technical Lead, Lead Design Engineer, Senior/Staff, or Member of Technical Staff.
  • The role is remote and part of a distributed team across the U.S. and Canada.

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of relevant experience with a BSEE or Applied Science degree; 8+ years with an MS degree.
  • Expertise in using Synopsys ICC2/Fusion Compiler and PrimeTime.
  • Understanding of the full design cycle from RTL to GDSII, including chip level.
  • Prior experience with custom physical design and relative placement, having successfully tapped out multiple chips in 5nm and below.
  • Proficiency in all aspects of block delivery, including clock, power analysis, and physical verification.
  • Strong skills in Python, Perl, shell, and tcl scripting, as well as experience with Linux/Unix and text editors.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced startup environment and excellent communication skills.
  • Experience with CPU/GPU datapath or AI processor physical design is a plus.
