Description:
The AWS Architect position is a long-term contract role lasting over 2 years and is 100% remote within the continental US.
The role involves architecting, developing, and maintaining the client's cloud environment in both commercial and government AWS clouds.
The AWS Architect will collaborate closely with software engineers, architects, and DevOps engineers to ensure a secure, resilient, and high-performance cloud infrastructure.
Essential functions include building, maintaining, and operating IaaS and PaaS infrastructure in AWS, selecting appropriate AWS services based on various requirements, and identifying the use of AWS architectural best practices.
The architect will work with development teams to identify and measure service level objectives (SLOs), service level agreements (SLAs), and service level indicators (SLIs).
Responsibilities also include contributing to the development of platform services, performing integrations with logging and monitoring systems, and building tools for engineering teams to observe their applications in production.
The role requires assisting in identifying and remediating technical problems, maintaining operational tooling, and automating alerts for various metrics.
The architect will also improve processes and champion automation of manual support tasks.
Requirements:
Candidates must have 3+ years of experience in a cloud architect role, specifically in designing and deploying scalable, highly available, and fault-tolerant systems on AWS.
A minimum of 8+ years of experience in a cloud engineer or Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) role is required.
Strong knowledge of AWS services such as VPC, EC2, S3, ECS, CloudFormation, Lambda, EKS, RDS, ELB, Route53, RedShift, Chime, and Connect is essential.
Expert knowledge and hands-on production experience in Kubernetes (EKS or AKS) cluster setup and management is required.
Experience with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools like Terraform is necessary.
Familiarity with Kubernetes deployment tools such as Helm, ArgoCD, and Flux is expected.
Candidates should have a strong awareness of networking and internet protocols, as well as an understanding of identity and access management (IAM).
Experience supporting infrastructure in production cloud environments is required.
Knowledge of encryption (KMS), Public Key Infrastructure (PKI), and an understanding of OWASP is necessary.
Experience working with RESTful services and supporting environments adhering to compliance standards like FedRAMP and NIST (800-171|53) is required.
Some experience with monitoring tools such as CloudWatch, VPC Flow Logs, Splunk, Dynatrace, Grafana, and Prometheus is preferred.
Familiarity with IDEs and source control tools like Azure DevOps, GitHub, or GitLab is also required.
