Description:
The AWS Cloud Engineer position is a remote, full-time role focused on IT and is suitable for mid-level professionals.
The contract duration is 36 months, and US Citizenship is required for Public Trust, with an active Public Trust preferred for immediate start.
Responsibilities include conducting market research and evaluation on the latest infrastructure and cloud technologies, such as server, storage, network, virtual machine, cloud IaaS, PaaS, containerization, and disaster recovery.
The engineer will produce formal decision analysis and recommendation documents on technologies to be adopted at the customer data center and cloud.
They will implement Proof-Of-Concept (POC) on key infrastructure and cloud technologies and design system architecture and technical implementation plans.
The role involves evaluating cloud vendor offerings, implementing cloud pilots, and participating in cloud implementation design and migration planning.
The engineer will assist in producing documentation and other deliverables that meet customer requirements and participate in cross-function design and development activities.
They will design and automate cloud environments at scale using Infrastructure as Code tools and develop fully automated software delivery pipelines.
Collaboration within and across agile teams is essential to maximize productivity, and the engineer will develop technical documentation, architecture diagrams, and similar materials.
Engagement in all agile ceremonies, including backlog grooming, demos, and retrospectives, is required.
The engineer will work to eliminate road-blocks and hindrances preventing teams from delivering software and assist in documenting and leveraging cloud and DevOps best practices.
Requirements:
A BS/BA degree in a related area such as Computer Science, Information Technology, or Software Engineering is required.
Candidates must have 6+ years of AWS cloud experience.
Experience in migrating applications from on-prem to AWS cloud, preferably in a government environment, is necessary.
AWS migration experience within a Federal Government environment is preferred.
An AWS Professional Cloud Certification is preferred.
A deep understanding and working experience in server, storage, network, virtual machine, and security is required.
Candidates should have a deep understanding and working experience in cloud technologies from one or more leading cloud vendors.
Expertise in working with Unix/Linux platforms and scripting experience with Shell, Python, and Perl is necessary.
Experience supporting mission-critical, enterprise-class applications based on Linux and Windows platforms, either on-premises or in the cloud, is required.
Candidates must be able to obtain a Public Trust.
