Description:
The Cloud Engineer is a key element within the Rackspace support infrastructure and is expected to provide a high level of technical support to customers via phone, ticketing system, and automation.
This role owns complex customer issues that may take several days or weeks to resolve and keeps customers updated through every step of the process.
The engineer is responsible for supporting internal and external customers on multiple platforms.
Responsibilities include troubleshooting customer environments to increase user satisfaction and resolving customer issues while providing guidance and recommendations to enhance efficiency and reduce incidents.
The role involves developing tooling and processes to improve customer experience, creating playbooks, and mentoring support teams on customer-related issues.
Adherence to company security policies and procedures, as well as other relevant policies and standards, is required.
The shift available is Monday to Friday from 4 AM to 1 PM CST.
Key responsibilities include being a technical point of escalation, leading business continuity projects, monitoring and maintaining infrastructure, ensuring control and accessibility of the cloud environment, leading system architecture enhancements, mentoring colleagues, quality checking technical training development, providing technical expertise for communications, and collaborating with Account Managers and Business Development Consultants.
Requirements:
A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a related technical field is required.
At least 2 years of recent experience working with AWS is necessary.
Proficient knowledge of the AWS Cloud Platform is essential.
Proficient skills in at least one programming language such as Node.js, Python, PHP, Ruby, or Java are required.
Proficient skills with git and git workflows are necessary.
Proficient skills in leveraging CI and CD tools to automate testing and deployment are required.
Proficient knowledge of Linux or Windows OS, including Server Failover Clustering, Active Directory, and IIS, is necessary.
Intermediate knowledge of designing, building, implementing, analyzing, and troubleshooting distributed, highly available systems is required.
Intermediate knowledge of at least one configuration management system such as Chef, Puppet, Ansible, or Salt is necessary.
Intermediate knowledge of Project Management methodologies is required.
Intermediate understanding of services and protocols, configuration, management, and troubleshooting of hosting environments, including web servers and databases, is necessary.
Intermediate knowledge in the application of current and emerging network software and hardware technology and protocols is required.
Intermediate knowledge of the VMWare Platform and the vSphere platform is necessary.
Basic networking skills and working knowledge of fibre channel SANS, NFS, and vSAN are required.
Basic knowledge of vROPS and HP/DELL Server hardware platforms is necessary.
Intermediate knowledge of the Hyper-V platform is required.
Preferred candidates should hold an AWS Associate-level certification.
Fluency in both Spanish and English is required, as interviews will be held in English.
