Description:
The AWS Cloud Security Engineer will serve as the primary administrator and security agent for the company's systems and telecommunications.
This role involves monitoring user accounts for least privileges, including the creation and removal of accounts across various platforms such as Linux, AWS IAM, VOIP, and Email.
Responsibilities include architecting, designing, implementing, and deploying technical security controls to address security needs and enable new business opportunities.
The engineer will research and evaluate new security technologies to fill gaps in existing security services.
The role requires enhancing the security team's capabilities by planning solution delivery, answering technical questions, and mentoring team members.
The engineer will evaluate network and security technologies to plan security systems and determine security requirements through analyses and risk assessments.
Implementation of security systems will involve specifying intrusion detection methodologies and preparing preventive measures.
The engineer may provide leadership and mentoring in areas of expertise to peers and management.
Compliance with required standards and procedures is essential, along with developing risk-based mitigation strategies for various systems.
Responsibilities also include creating and maintaining vulnerability management policies, designing security automation, and responding to technical support inquiries.
Server administration tasks, routine audits, and nightly backups are part of the job duties.
Requirements:
A Bachelor's degree in technology or computer science is required for this position.
Candidates must have 5+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure and information security.
Competency in Bash scripting is necessary.
The ability to work well under pressure is essential.
Clear written and verbal communication skills are required.
Experience with industry-leading vulnerability scanners and understanding vulnerability landscapes is necessary.
Familiarity with Common Vulnerability Scoring methodology is required.
Candidates should be able to work independently and as part of a team.
A minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in IAAS and PAAS on a global scale is required.
Strong experience with cloud virtualization technologies, specifically Docker and AWS, is necessary.
Familiarity with the AWS shared responsibility model from a security standpoint is required.
Time management skills are essential for this role.
Prior technical support experience is necessary.
Strong knowledge of operating systems, equipment, technology, and performance-monitoring tools is required.
Specific skills in Linux administration, AWS, Debian, Nagios or Icinga, DNS, HAProxy, Nginx, and FreePBX are preferred.
