Description:

Mactores is seeking an AWS Data Engineer to join their team as a freelancer, working remotely.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in PySpark and SQL, and have worked with data pipelines using Amazon EMR or Amazon Glue.
The candidate needs expertise in developing and managing data pipelines, particularly in a DataBricks DeltaLake format.
Responsibilities include mapping cross-functional business processes, defining data models based on reporting requirements, and developing data pipelines to ensure data quality.
The role involves collaboration with Business Analysts to address key business questions and reviewing the organization’s data governance state.
The candidate will develop data products aligned with data governance principles and establish a medallion-style definition for data in the data lake.
Additional tasks include reviewing and editing data pipelines, implementing unit tests, and providing guidance on CICD processes.
The candidate will act as a consultant for ad-hoc analytic queries executed via Looker and enable data-driven decision-making.
Responsibilities also include establishing gold-standard data sources, implementing data cleanliness processes, and formalizing model review processes.

Requirements:

A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is required.
The candidate must have 4+ years of experience as a Data Architect with a focus on data governance.
Strong proficiency in mapping business processes and defining data models is essential.
Expertise in developing and managing data pipelines, particularly in a DataBricks' DeltaLake format, is required.
Experience with Spark and Airflow for orchestration is necessary.
Familiarity with Looker for analytics is preferred.
Knowledge of best practices in unit testing and CICD for data pipelines is required.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills are essential for this role.
