Remote Azure Cloud Operations Engineer

Description:

• We are seeking a skilled Azure Cloud Operations Engineer to join our development team and take ownership of the infrastructure, performance, security, and compliance of our cloud-based applications hosted in both Azure Commercial and Azure Government environments.
• This role spans the management of Azure services, cloud cost optimization, regulatory compliance, and support for DevOps pipelines.
• The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and experienced in securing and maintaining highly available systems that serve federal and commercial clients.
• The Azure Cloud Operations Engineer will monitor and manage Azure cloud environments and services including, but not limited to, VMs, App Services, Redis, Service Bus, Azure Functions, Logic Apps, and storage accounts.
• Responsibilities include optimizing performance, scalability, and cost across both single-tenant and multi-tenant deployments.
• The engineer will implement and enforce security best practices, monitor and respond to vulnerabilities and incidents.
• Ensuring and maintaining compliance with current standards (e.g., SOC2) and supporting the implementation of future frameworks (e.g., FedRamp) is essential.
• The role involves supporting CI/CD processes in Azure DevOps, including both creation and maintenance of pipelines.
• Executing application deployments as part of the release process, following established schedules and procedures is required.
• Collaboration with developers and stakeholders to ensure system reliability, scalability, and secure configuration is necessary.
• Maintaining accurate documentation for infrastructure, processes, and compliance requirements is part of the job.
• Occasionally providing after-hours support for critical deployments or incident resolution is expected.

Requirements:

• A Bachelor's Degree in a technical field or equivalent work experience is preferred.
• U.S. Citizenship and U.S. residency are required.
• Candidates should have 3–5+ years of Azure experience, including at least 1–2 years working in Azure Government environments.
• Strong hands-on experience with core Azure services and Azure governance tools is necessary.
• Solid knowledge of cloud security and compliance practices in regulated environments is required.
• Experience working with .NET-based applications in Azure environments is essential.
• Proficiency with scripting and infrastructure-as-code tools (PowerShell, ARM/Bicep, or Terraform) is needed.
• Familiarity with Redis, Azure Service Bus, Azure Functions, and Logic Apps is important.
• Experience supporting both single-tenant and multi-tenant architectures is required.
• Preferred skills include Azure Administrator or Azure DevOps Engineer certifications.
• Experience with SOC2 audits, FedRAMP compliance, or other regulatory frameworks is advantageous.
• A background in supporting applications in federal or government contractor settings is preferred.
• Candidates must have the capacity to break down complex problems into smaller, manageable components and analyze root causes and potential solutions.
• The ability to work effectively with others, seek input and feedback, and leverage collective knowledge and skills to solve problems as a team is essential.
• Candidates should possess the skill to think outside the box, generate new ideas, and approach problems from unique perspectives to find innovative solutions.
• The capability to assess available options, weigh their pros and cons, and make informed decisions that best address the problem at hand is necessary.
