Remote Back-end Engineer (Node.js) (Mid)

Description:

• The company is a Polish branch of a fast-growing InsurTech product company from Silicon Valley, Hippo Insurance, aiming to revolutionize home insurance in the US.
• They are seeking a Mid Back-end Engineer to work on architecting and implementing backends, porting code into service-oriented architecture, supporting databases and APIs, and deploying software using industry-standard tooling like Kubernetes clusters and Lambda functions.
• The role involves working in an agile environment on impactful projects, caring deeply about security, implementing automated test suites, and following DevOps principles.

• The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of hands-on experience with Node.js, practical knowledge of relational database systems, familiarity with microservices and system design patterns, and good command of English.
• Other requirements include experience with software design and architecture discussions, independent problem-solving skills, implementation of the test pyramid, effective utilization of security practices, and readiness to learn and expand skill set as required.
• The role may involve evening meetings due to collaboration with the United States, but the company prioritizes work-life fit and effective communication between time zones.

Requirements:

• At least 2 years of hands-on experience with Node.js.
• Good practical knowledge of at least one relational database system like PostgreSQL/MySQL/SQL Server.
• Familiarity with microservices and system design patterns.
• Ability to engage in discussions and decisions regarding software design and architecture.
• Independent problem-solving skills.
• Experience implementing the test pyramid (unit, integration, e2e tests).
• Effective utilization of good security practices.
• Good command of English (written & spoken).
• Readiness to learn and expand skill set as required by ongoing projects.
• Availability in the afternoons for potential evening meetings.
