Description:

The Backend Dev Lead will work directly with the lead developer/co-founder to build new features and architect new back-end tools and conventions for other engineers.
The role requires spending 80% of the time shipping back-end code, owning, building, and releasing new features and updates quickly and with high quality, aiming for over 90% of releases on time.
The candidate must ensure that the code meets Applause’s high engineering standards and can handle 10 times more usage.
The Backend Dev Lead will collaborate closely with the product team to lead the design and architecture of new features and sub-systems on a project basis.
The individual will take ownership of the development side of a release from start to finish, which includes presenting multiple solutions for problems, determining the optimal solution based on requirements, delegating tasks to other developers, assisting during feature development, and delivering on personal code tasks.

Requirements:

The candidate must have 7-12 years of experience as a back-end engineer.
A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a dev lead or similar role is required.
The individual should have 5-10 years of experience with Node as their primary environment.
An aptitude and willingness to quickly learn established conventions is necessary.
The candidate must have very high standards for code quality.
A passion for programming and a strong history of shipping many features in a short timeline is essential.
The individual must be very effective in a remote-work environment.
