Remote Backend engineer

Description:

• The backend engineer at Supernormal will be responsible for owning projects from start to finish, focusing on building and evolving the API consumed by clients such as the web app and Chrome extension.
• The role involves building reliable and secure services using advanced AI models to generate high-quality meeting notes for a growing customer base.
• Responsibilities include expanding and maintaining the Rails API, building new features primarily with Ruby and Python, continuously improving the codebase, managing the Postgres database and Redis instances, and setting up internal dashboards and tooling to support core services.
• The tech stack includes Ruby on Rails for backend development, Python for scripting, and JavaScript/TypeScript for frontend development with React.

Requirements:

• The ideal candidate should have 5+ years of experience in a similar role, with 2-3 years of recent production experience in releasing code in Ruby.
• They should have a collaborative work history, proactive improvement mindset, problem-solving proficiency, helpful attitude, and an open-minded approach.
• The candidate should be willing to collaborate, dive deep into problems, operate with high agency, and have a continuous learning mindset.
