Remote Backend Engineer

Description:

• We are seeking our first Backend Engineer at Parable to build a product that transforms how companies understand and use their time.
• This role involves shaping our technical architecture from the ground up and working directly with our CTO, Data, and AI teams to build scalable systems for our AI-driven insights platform.
• The ideal candidate is someone who is obsessed with building elegant, scalable systems and has spent years developing backend infrastructure while continuously learning new approaches and technologies.
• The candidate should combine technical excellence with business impact, being able to architect complex systems and write efficient code while delivering value to users.
• A deep understanding of data modeling and transformation techniques is essential, along with experience in semi-structured data and creating scalable data pipelines.
• The candidate should be a lean experimenter, capable of delivering results quickly through smart architectural decisions and iterative development.
• A strong desire for learning and growth, along with the ability to work effectively in a small, fast-moving team, is crucial.
• Responsibilities include designing and maintaining scalable data pipelines, developing robust data models, building performant data services, normalizing and linking semi-structured data, integrating with external data sources, collaborating with AI engineers, and contributing to technical standards.

Requirements:

• The candidate must have 3-5 years of experience building backend services, focusing on data transformation, modeling, and integration, preferably in AI/ML workflows.
• A solid understanding of building scalable, reliable, and maintainable web services is required, with experience in Python, Java, Scala, Rust, or Typescript.
• Experience with one or more database concepts, including SQL, NoSQL, graph databases, or time series databases, is necessary.
• Familiarity with data processing tools and libraries like Spark and containerization technologies is expected.
• Proven experience in connecting to and working with various APIs, including SaaS APIs (REST, GraphQL), is essential.
• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field is preferred.
