Description:

  • Rye is a seed-stage startup focused on building APIs for eCommerce, integrating with platforms like Shopify, WooCommerce, and BigCommerce.
  • The company is led by an experienced founding team, including Justin Kan, co-founder of Twitch, and founders from Reddit and Goldman Sachs.
  • The role is for a Senior / Staff Backend Engineer to join a remote-first team, primarily located in the PST timezone.
  • Responsibilities include developing new services, establishing infrastructure on GCP, writing high-quality documentation, and delivering large projects end to end.
  • The engineer will coordinate features across teams, ensuring fast iterative product development with one-week sprints.
  • Proactive communication of updates and the ability to work independently are essential.

Requirements:

  • Candidates must have 4+ years of experience in backend engineering.
  • Proficiency in Golang and Node.js is required.
  • Experience in building systems with a GraphQL API and a gRPC backend system is necessary.
  • A strong understanding of best practices in software development and engineering is expected.
  • Experience working with external platforms like Shopify, WooCommerce, and BigCommerce is essential.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently are required.
  • Good technical writing skills are necessary.
