Description:

  • As a Backend Engineer on the Data Platform team, you will be responsible for developing and deploying internal APIs and workflows to facilitate seamless integration between Underdog's internal services.
  • Your role will involve designing, developing, and maintaining RESTful APIs and microservices to enable efficient data retrieval and processing for internal applications.
  • You will have the opportunity to work on greenfield projects and develop new backend systems focused on scalability, fault tolerance, and performance to drive Underdog's future business.
  • Collaboration with engineers, product owners, and data scientists to understand requirements and translate them into scalable technical solutions will be a key aspect of your role.
  • Implementing and maintaining monitoring, alerting, and logging mechanisms to ensure the health and accuracy of Underdog's engineering systems will also be part of your responsibilities.
  • You will lead technical initiatives, drive results in a fast-paced environment, conduct code reviews, provide feedback, and promote best practices to maintain code quality.

Requirements:

  • At least 3 years of experience in building microservices heavy backend systems and APIs for internal applications on a cloud environment like AWS, GCP, or Azure.
  • Experience in building and scaling backend systems, as well as designing enterprise-scale APIs for both external and internal applications.
  • Strong focus on delivering results in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and excellent communication skills to collaborate with stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, or ECS.
  • Advanced proficiency in Go, C++, Java, or similar programming languages (at least 2) and intermediate proficiency in SQL.
  • Experience with DevOps practices like CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or CDK.
