Description:
As a Backend Engineer on the Data Platform team, you will be responsible for developing and deploying internal APIs and workflows to facilitate seamless integration between Underdog's internal services.
Your role will involve designing, developing, and maintaining RESTful APIs and microservices to enable efficient data retrieval and processing for internal applications.
You will have the opportunity to work on greenfield projects and develop new backend systems focused on scalability, fault tolerance, and performance to drive Underdog's future business.
Collaboration with engineers, product owners, and data scientists to understand requirements and translate them into scalable technical solutions will be a key aspect of your role.
Implementing and maintaining monitoring, alerting, and logging mechanisms to ensure the health and accuracy of Underdog's engineering systems will also be part of your responsibilities.
You will lead technical initiatives, drive results in a fast-paced environment, conduct code reviews, provide feedback, and promote best practices to maintain code quality.
Requirements:
At least 3 years of experience in building microservices heavy backend systems and APIs for internal applications on a cloud environment like AWS, GCP, or Azure.
Experience in building and scaling backend systems, as well as designing enterprise-scale APIs for both external and internal applications.
Strong focus on delivering results in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and excellent communication skills to collaborate with stakeholders.
Familiarity with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, or ECS.
Advanced proficiency in Go, C++, Java, or similar programming languages (at least 2) and intermediate proficiency in SQL.
Experience with DevOps practices like CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or CDK.
