Description:
The Personalization Team at Spotify seeks to enhance the understanding of music and podcasts to provide personalized recommendations to users.
The team is composed of technologists, product insight experts, designers, and product managers located in Boston, New York, Stockholm, and London.
The role involves collaborating with internal customers to design APIs and backend systems that meet scalability needs.
Responsibilities include building backend systems that support applications, scaling distributed systems, and improving engineering practices.
The Mimir squad within the Personalization Mission focuses on serving Spotify vector ecosystems at scale and owns the Flux Platform used for candidate generation and content representation.
The position allows for collaboration with key stakeholders, architecture and development of Java services, leveraging data sets for music recommendations, and contributing to an agile team.
The role includes leadership within the backend developer community and opportunities to work on personal projects during hack days and hack weeks.
The position is remote within the North America region, with collaboration primarily in the Eastern Standard time zone.
Requirements:
Candidates must have experience working with stakeholders to document and develop APIs and systems that meet their requirements.
Experience in writing distributed, high-volume services and maintaining them in production is required.
A strong interest in big data processing technologies is necessary.
Candidates should thrive in an experimental and iterative work environment.
A belief in the power of data for informed decision-making is essential.
A deep understanding of system design, data structures, and algorithms is required.

The position offers a competitive salary range of $160,091 to $228,702, plus equity.
