Description:

MedScout is seeking a Backend Engineer to join their remote team and contribute to their mission of empowering MedTech commercial teams with data and tools for medical innovations.
The role involves building a web platform that incorporates agentic AI to assist medical device representatives in identifying high-impact sales opportunities.
Responsibilities include designing and implementing robust backend services using Python, Django, PostgreSQL, and Elastic.
The engineer will collaborate with the frontend team to define and implement APIs for the user interface.
The position requires designing and building the agentic AI architecture for customized user experiences.
The engineer will own the platform and deploy pipelines, shaping its future and determining ownership.
Collaboration with Product, Customer Success, and Sales leaders is essential to understand customer needs and inform design decisions.
The role emphasizes leading by example and fostering a culture of high-quality code and best practices.

Requirements:

Candidates should have 5 years of combined backend and platform engineering experience.
Experience in building APIs with an interpreted language such as Python, Ruby, or JavaScript/TypeScript is required.
Familiarity with AI coding tools to enhance efficiency is necessary.
Experience in using customer feedback to define and build product features is essential.
Knowledge of agentic AI frameworks like LangChain/LangGraph, CrewAI, and LlamaIndex is preferred.
Experience in building AI agents, even in personal projects, is a plus.
Candidates should have experience operating agentic AI or LLM-backed features in production.

The compensation range for this role is set between $170K and $185K, depending on location and skill set.
