Description:

The Backend Engineer role is a full-time, remote position at Sporty, a leading sports betting website with millions of active users.
You will be responsible for developing microservices in a distributed deployment environment, focusing on containerization with Docker and Kubernetes.
The position involves working on the core logic of complex systems that are accessed millions of times daily, without the burden of legacy code.
You will collaborate with Product Owners and other team members to determine new features and user stories for applications or large development projects.
Responsibilities include participating in code reviews, responding to support calls for production applications, and mentoring less experienced team members.
You may have potential on-call responsibilities depending on team and tenure.

Requirements:

A minimum of 3+ years of experience in a relevant role is required.
Preferred experience in Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, Spring Data, and iBATIS.
Strong experience in developing highly-scalable web backends and designing highly transactional systems is essential.
Advanced proficiency in Object Oriented Design (OOD), application analysis/design engineering functions, and non-functional software qualities such as resiliency and maintainability is required.
A deep understanding of Microservices and proficiency in SQL is necessary.
Expert knowledge of application development with technologies like RabbitMQ, MySQL, and Redis is expected.
Strong experience with container and cloud solutions such as Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS Cloud is required.
The ability to work independently and excellent communication skills in English are essential.
