Remote Backend Engineer, Business Experience

Description:

• The Business Experience team aims to empower brands and professionals to create engaging content and grow their presence on Reddit.
• The Backend Engineer will play a high-impact role in technical and product strategy for a new product with a revenue opportunity exceeding $100 million.
• Responsibilities include working cross-functionally with product, design, and engineering teams to execute product and business strategies, and building innovative products and features.
• The role involves contributing to the full development cycle, including technical design, development, testing, experimentation, analysis, and launch.
• The engineer will review code and design documents, provide feedback on product specifications and mocks, and participate in a team of motivated engineers.
• The position requires continuous learning and improvement of both technical and non-technical skills.

Requirements:

• A BS degree in Computer Science, a similar technical field of study, or equivalent practical experience is required.
• Candidates must have at least 3 years of hands-on, professional software development experience in one or more general-purpose programming languages such as Go, Python, Ruby, Java, or C++.
• Experience with GraphQL, REST, HTTP, and Thrift basics is necessary, along with the ability to design and implement maintainable APIs.
• A proven track record of developing and improving highly scalable and reliable serving systems is essential.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks to deliver projects on schedule are required.
• An entrepreneurial spirit is important; candidates should be self-directed, innovative, and action-oriented in fast-paced environments, with a passion for building new things and thriving in ambiguity.
• Excellent communication skills are necessary to effectively partner with teams in a fully remote environment and discuss complex topics with both technical and non-technical audiences.
