Remote Backend Engineer - Client Delivery

Description:

• The Advertising Product & Technology team aims to build a next-generation advertising platform for audio and video.
• The team works to scale user experiences for hundreds of millions of fans and hundreds of thousands of advertisers.
• The Client Delivery squad within the Ad Performance Platform product area is seeking a backend engineer.
• Client Delivery is responsible for backend services and data pipelines that deliver thousands of concurrent ad campaigns to millions of users globally.
• The team's motto is “if there is an available ad to play, ensure that the ad does play.”
• Responsibilities include collaborating with internal partners to design scalable backend systems and APIs.
• The engineer will architect, develop, and operate Java services deployed to millions of users.
• The role involves working with data engineers to build and maintain batch and real-time data pipelines using frameworks like Scio and Flink.
• The engineer will serve as a technical leader in an autonomous, multi-functional agile team.
• Identifying complex problems using SQL and collaborating with engineers, product owners, and designers to solve issues is also part of the job.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have 3+ years of working experience with Java and/or Scala.
• Experience in writing distributed, high-volume services and maintaining them in production is required.
• Candidates should have experience working directly with stakeholders to understand, document, and develop APIs and systems.
• A passion for working in an experimental and iterative environment is essential.
• A belief in the power of data for informed decision-making is necessary.
• A deep understanding of system design, data structures, and algorithms is required.
• Candidates must care about quality and understand what it means to ship high-quality code.
• Nice to have: Experience with C++ or an interest in learning C++.
• Nice to have: Experience debugging problems using SQL.
