Description:

  • Reddit is seeking a Backend Engineer for their Core Platform team responsible for facilitating millions of API requests on the Core API Platform.
  • The team's mission is to develop and maintain core backend systems with clear interfaces, low latencies, and high uptime for product development teams to leverage.
  • Challenges include defining and maintaining core data models, designing a performant and secure architecture, and handling millions of requests per second for tens of millions of users globally.
  • As a Backend Engineer, you will play a critical role in building central systems at Reddit, ensuring high uptime and performance, and contributing to the platform's growth and real-time experiences.

Requirements:

  • Multiple years of professional software development experience in a "systems" language like golang, Python, C, C++, Rust, Java.
  • 3+ years of experience in building and operating large-scale, mission-critical distributed systems.
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with peers and raise technical issues clearly.
  • Familiarity with service architectures and building API platforms for customers.
  • Proven track record of developing clean, maintainable, and well-tested code.
