Remote Backend Engineer, Core Services

Description:

• ClickUp is seeking a driven software engineer to join the Core Services team.
• The role involves designing and delivering scalable distributed shared services for other engineering teams.
• Responsibilities include integrating customer feedback into API tooling and services, creating new architectural foundations, and collaborating with other teams.
• The position requires working within an agile scrum-based engineering team and reporting to the Senior Manager of Core Services.
• The engineer will uphold high levels of customer satisfaction, advocate for API governance, and own integration within the API Gateway layer.
• Identifying improvements to critical shared services and contributing to the growth of the infrastructure engineering organization are key aspects of the role.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent work experience.
• Strong understanding of API standards, design approaches, and integration patterns.
• Familiarity with CAP Theorem and distributed systems design patterns.
• Proficiency in TypeScript.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Strong sense of ownership and accountability.
• Understanding of developer experience in all built solutions.
• Desirable qualifications include a pragmatic approach to software design, experience with Kafka and event-based patterns, and familiarity with Backend for Frontend (BFF) patterns.
