Description:
Komoot is seeking a backend engineer to join their remote team, focused on creating data solutions for their app that helps users find, plan, and share outdoor adventures.
The role involves working with a team of data scientists and backend engineers to develop and maintain komoot’s in-house technology.
The backend engineer will be part of the Smart Tour squad, which is responsible for algorithmic route suggestions based on recorded activities.
Responsibilities include advising data scientists on integrating data solutions, ensuring system reliability through automation, processing large data sets, and developing data architecture.
The position requires participation in the full lifecycle of solution development, from concept to maintenance, and utilizing distributed computing on AWS.
Requirements:
Candidates should be highly self-driven, responsible, and eager to learn and improve.
Strong teamwork and communication skills are essential.
A minimum of 2 years of professional experience with Python is required.
Candidates must have at least 2 years of experience in developing distributed and resilient backend services.
Experience with both SQL and NoSQL data storage solutions is necessary.
Knowledge of modern big data technologies is required.
Candidates should have experience configuring and running applications in production on AWS, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure, or Kubernetes.
Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code, continuous integration and deployment, and monitoring is essential.
Bonus points for knowledge of GIS and an interest in data engineering.
