The Hierarchy Squad is looking for a Backend Engineer to build and optimize tier 1 services that are core to ClickUp’s productivity platform.
The role involves maintaining, developing, and scaling high throughput services to support the company's accelerated growth.
Responsibilities include building features and systems with attention to detail and performance, owning end-to-end development from conception to production, working closely with cross-functional stakeholders, identifying and implementing improvements to existing systems, and helping establish a fulfilling engineering culture.
Key technologies used in this role include Typescript, Postgres, Kafka, and NestJS running on Amazon Web Services.

Requirements:

A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or an equivalent major is required.
Candidates should have 5+ years of experience engineering performant and high-throughput systems, ideally on Node.js.
High-quality code writing skills, preferably in TypeScript, are essential.
A proven track record of building performant, high-throughput systems is necessary.
Experience in writing and debugging SQL queries at scale is required.
Candidates should have experience developing event-based systems.
Familiarity with major cloud services, ideally AWS, is expected.
Empathetic communication skills are important for this role.
Candidates should be comfortable with ambiguity and have a history of delivering projects with little direction.
A product-minded approach and a good intuition for great user experience are essential.
