Description:
The Awareness & Acquisition team at Spotify focuses on ensuring the platform is top of mind for users seeking audio content and encourages dedicated users to share Spotify with others.
The team is known for building the Wrapped consumer-facing experience and works extensively in the SEO domain while experimenting with features that drive organic growth.
Spotify is seeking a Backend Engineer to join this team, with a mission to create in-app experiences that motivate users to discuss Spotify with friends and family.
The team aims to build features based on three strategic pillars: audio identity, time-sensitive moments, and fandom.
Recent projects include the launch and expansion of Daylist, which is now available in multiple countries and streamed by millions, and a new Voting feature allowing users to vote for their favorite artists during televised award shows directly in the app.
The role involves collaborating with engineers, product managers, designers, and data scientists to develop end-to-end features for millions of users.
Responsibilities include architecting, developing, and operating Java services, improving the lifecycle of backend services, participating in technical strategy evolution, and driving technical initiatives across Spotify.
The position allows for creative freedom during regular hack days and annual hack weeks.
Requirements:
Candidates should have an intermediate to advanced understanding of object-oriented programming concepts and architecture patterns.
Proven experience in designing, implementing, and scaling cloud-native software components is required, with familiarity in providers like AWS or GCP being a plus.
The ideal candidate enjoys collaborative work within a full-stack team and utilizes agile processes to deliver projects incrementally.
Strong problem-solving skills are necessary, with the ability to investigate issues in complex systems.
