Description:
The Personalization team at Spotify is focused on enhancing user experience by making music and podcast recommendations easier and more enjoyable.
The team is seeking a Backend Engineer to join the Rewards team within the Personalized Strategic Programming (PSP) area.
The role involves collaborating with research scientists, data scientists, and engineers to improve recommendation systems and user satisfaction.
Responsibilities include designing backend systems and APIs, developing and operating Java services for millions of users, and leveraging data sets for recommendations.
The engineer will be a technical leader in an agile team, working on challenging problems to enhance recommendation quality.
The position allows for participation in hack days and hack weeks to encourage innovation.
Requirements:
Candidates must have experience working with stakeholders to develop APIs and systems that meet their requirements.
Experience in writing distributed, high-volume services and managing them in production, particularly in machine learning contexts, is required.
A strong interest in big data and machine learning systems is essential.
The ideal candidate should thrive in an experimental and iterative work environment.
A deep understanding of system design, data structures, and algorithms is necessary.
A commitment to quality and the ability to deliver high-quality code is expected.

The base salary range for this role is $122,716 to $175,308, plus equity.
