Remote Backend Engineer III

Description:

• Alma is seeking a mission-driven Backend Engineer III to join their team focused on simplifying access to high-quality, affordable mental health care.
• The role involves building features that solve real problems for mental health providers and requires strong communication, experimentation, and iteration skills.
• Responsibilities include designing, developing, and implementing maintainable and scalable backend systems using technologies such as Python, Django, and AWS.
• The engineer will develop both member-facing and internal-facing features related to onboarding, scheduling, billing, and client management.
• Collaboration with Product Managers, Product Designers, and cross-functional stakeholders is essential to conceptualize and build solutions for practical problems.
• The engineer must ensure applications and services meet Alma's standards for performance, scalability, and security.

Requirements:

• Candidates should have 2-4 years of experience as an engineer with a proven history of working across the stack and building products at scale.
• Experience in building APIs, system design, and working with relational databases is required.
• A strong understanding of security compliance is necessary.
• Candidates must be experienced in writing and maintaining automated tests, including unit, integration, end-to-end, and performance testing.
• Proficiency in code versioning tools, such as Git, is required.
• A passion for customer-centered software development and collaboration with engineers, designers, and product managers is essential.
• Candidates should possess a desire to experiment and use research and data to make data-driven decisions.
