Description:
Spotify is looking for a Backend Engineer to join the Music Mission engineering organization, specifically the Crescendo squad within the Music Promotion and Spotify for Artists Growth product area.
The Music Mission owns Spotify's end-to-end proposition for music creators and the experiences they build for fans.
The team is dedicated to building tools and services to enable creation, promotion, expression, and monetization at scale.
This role will be part of an engineering team passionate about crafting the ways we communicate with our customers throughout their journey–both in and outside of the Spotify for Artists experience.
The team will build platforms and tools to empower product and marketing to reach artists and their teams, connecting them to the powerful industry-facing tools our mission provides to help drive their career on Spotify.
You will join a fast-paced, innovative team of engineers who are solving exciting architecture problems around access and authorization and collaborating across teams to develop reliable, scalable solutions that power the Spotify marketplace.
Responsibilities include developing backend services in Java, coordinating technical projects across multiple teams, facilitating collaboration with engineers, product owners, and designers, deploying and operating backend services on Google’s GCP cloud, authoring technical RFCs, and providing tooling and a platform for Spotify teams.
The work environment supports individual growth by providing challenging tasks and opportunities to acquire new skills through various internal training courses.
Requirements:
You must have professional experience working with Java for at least 3 years.
You should have professional experience with CloudSQL and/or relational databases for at least 3 years.
Experience with Apache Spark and/or Apache Beam for at least 2 years is required, along with data engineering and GCS Dataflow experience for at least 2 years.
You should be an experienced technical leader capable of advising a team through sophisticated Discovery and Delivery phases.
Strong communication and collaboration skills are essential to ensure alignment across subject areas.
A deep understanding of system design, data structures, and algorithms is necessary.
You should be collaborative and a team-first player who values pairing and mobbing, while also being able to work independently.
A commitment to quality and an understanding of what it means to ship high-quality code are important.

The United States base salary range for this position is $125,562 - $179,374 plus equity, with leveling determined during the interview process based on relevant work history and performance.
