Description:
The Rights Systems team is focused on enhancing Spotify’s business by enabling the distribution of new content forms across the platform.
This role involves detecting rights-protected intellectual property and facilitating management for rightsholders and creators.
The team will collaborate with various departments, including Content Platform, Financial Engineering, and Licensing, to create novel content datasets for end-users.
As the product matures, the team will expand to accommodate broader use cases and a larger user base.
The rights systems solution space is a key area of investment and growth for Spotify over the next 2-5 years, with plans to grow the team from a single squad to a product area.
The squad will specialize in Rights data, establishing a new domain within Spotify’s data landscape as a system of record for IP rights ownership.
Responsibilities include building and launching backend services and data pipelines, maintaining data pipelines, and supporting timely delivery of technical solutions.
The role also involves advocating for modern software development practices and contributing to a collaborative team culture.
Requirements:
A strong command of backend development best practices and a proven track record of delivering DRY, maintainable code that scales.
Experience in designing and building distributed, high-volume services in Java or similar languages.
A working understanding of delivering data solutions using Scio and Scala.
Exposure to data warehouses such as BigQuery or Snowflake, and orchestration platforms like Flyte.
Experience supporting high throughput user-facing systems in production and applying learnings from prior incidents.
Ability to own solutions end-to-end, from scoping tickets to deployment and testing in production.
Proficiency in modern testing, debugging, and automation techniques to ensure code quality.
A solid understanding of object-oriented and functional programming paradigms.
Proactive in identifying tech debt and collaborating with the team to prioritize it.
Interest in expanding data skillsets to enhance web development capabilities.
A commitment to software architecture across front-end, back-end, and APIs.
A willingness to learn new problem spaces and prioritize team success.
