Description:
We seek a skilled Backend Engineer to join the Music department within Spotify.
This team develops both consumer and industry-facing products that provide creators with new opportunities to promote their work, reach new audiences, and strengthen their connections with fans.
The role involves building structured, high-quality backend solutions to improve products and deliver better experiences to users and the global artist community.
Responsibilities include working with a full-stack team to build and launch backend services, collaborating with product, insights, design, and engineering teams, and designing, developing, and deploying backend services with a focus on high availability, low latency, and scalability.
The engineer will build and operate infrastructure, toolsets, and deployment pipelines, take operational responsibility for team-owned services, and participate in an on-call rotation.
The position supports individual growth and encourages continuous product improvement through A/B testing.
Requirements:
A strong command of backend development standard processes and a consistent track record of delivering DRY, maintainable code that scales across all levels of production-level traffic is required.
Comfort with Java code and experience in contributing to the development and maintenance of backend services is essential.
Interest in keeping up with current best practices in backend development is necessary.
Familiarity with modern infrastructure and tools is expected.
Knowledge of sound engineering practices like continuous delivery and automated testing is important.
Familiarity with the design of distributed and scalable systems and enjoyment in being part of a team that owns services with millions of users is required.
A good understanding of data structures and algorithms, and the ability to apply them to craft pragmatic solutions is necessary.
Proficiency in Java, Spring Boot, Kubernetes, Git, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Grafana, JUnit, PagerDuty, and Data Structures & Algorithms is required.
Benefits:
The United States base salary range for this position is $125,562 - $179,374 plus equity.
Benefits include health insurance, six months of paid parental leave, a 401(k) retirement plan, a monthly meal allowance, 23 paid days off, 13 paid flexible holidays, and paid sick leave.
The salary range encompasses multiple levels, with leveling determined during the interview process based on relevant work history and interview performance.
