Remote Backend Engineer - O11y, Asserts (Remote, EMEA)

Description:

• The Asserts.ai team, part of Grafana Labs, is expanding within the Observability group.
• The backend team is responsible for developing and managing low-latency microservices using Java and Graph DB.
• These services provide automated Root Cause Insights by querying Grafana Cloud Metrics, Traces, and Logs databases.
• The Asserts services are designed to be multi-tenant and highly available, processing and storing data in Graph and Time Series DB.
• The team is preparing to roll out services to thousands of self-service customers, focusing on improving performance and reliability.
• The position is remote, specifically for candidates located in Spain.
• The role involves delivering new features, creating design documents, and collaborating with teams.
• Responsibilities include building and operating critical systems, ensuring their reliability and performance, and participating in on-call rotations.
• The engineer will gain expertise in Grafana’s observability products and understand the cloud product and customer needs.

Requirements:

• Candidates must be motivated self-starters with a bias towards action.
• Strong experience in Java programming and deployment of Java-based microservices is required.
• Experience with Kubernetes is necessary.
• Candidates should have experience in delivering projects from requirements gathering to product shipping in a self-driven manner.
• Experience in building and deploying SaaS software on cloud providers like AWS, GCP, or Azure is required.
• A curiosity for learning new programming languages and frameworks is essential.
• Nice to have: Experience operating production services and participating in on-call rotations.
• Nice to have: A willingness to share knowledge through blog posts or tech talks.
