Description:
The Backend Engineer for the Product Planning team at GitLab will work on the backend part of GitLab for the Portfolio Management, Design Management, and Certify product categories.
Responsibilities include developing features and improvements to the GitLab product, collaborating with Product Management and other stakeholders, advocating for product quality, security, and performance, solving technical problems, conducting code reviews, proposing solutions for team efficiency, representing GitLab in public communication, and participating in on-call rotations.
The team collaborates closely with the rest of the Plan stage and the wider community to build and improve features in high demand by customers, such as Epics.
The ideal candidate will be an independent and self-organized individual contributor who can work in a remote and agile environment.
Requirements:
Significant professional experience with Ruby on Rails.
Professional experience with PostgreSQL or a comparable RDBMS.
Proficiency in the English language for success in a remote work environment.
Capacity to communicate about technical problems and propose solutions clearly and concisely.
Experience with performance and optimization problems in a highly agile software development process.
Ability to onboard and integrate with an organization long-term.
Positive and solution-oriented mindset with effective communication skills.
Self-motivated, self-managing, and strong organizational skills.
Ability to work closely with other parts of the organization and share GitLab's values.
Comfort and familiarity with GitLab's code review process.
