Description:
As a Platform Backend Engineer at Transfr, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the backend infrastructure and services used by VR training simulations.
You will collaborate with various teams to define data contracts and endpoints, capture events, and perform analytics to enhance the learning experience for trainees.
Working closely with product managers and VR developers, you will implement services supporting new training simulation features.
Your expertise in microservices architecture, data contracts, and analytics will be crucial for ensuring the reliability, scalability, and performance of backend platform services.
Responsibilities include designing high-performance, scalable backend services, defining data contracts for simulation scoring, optimizing the platform pipeline, ensuring code quality and security, troubleshooting backend issues, and providing technical leadership to junior engineers.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
2 to 4 years of experience in designing, building, and maintaining large-scale backend systems
Proficiency in cloud infrastructure services like AWS, GCP, or Azure
Strong background in designing high-throughput low-latency distributed systems
Proven experience with RESTful APIs and Python as a server-side language
Knowledge of relational database technologies, particularly PostgreSQL
Familiarity with AWS services such as Fargate, Lambda, S3, Kinesis, SQS, and RDS
Experience with containerization technologies like Docker
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot issues effectively
Agile environment experience and collaboration with cross-functional teams
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Benefits:
The base salary range for this position is expected to be between $130,000 and $150,000, with the actual amount dependent on factors like credentials, experience, and location.
Additional benefits may include stock options, 401(k), paid vacation and sick time, and medical/dental/vision insurance.
