Remote Backend Engineer, Platform

Description:

• As a Platform Backend Engineer at Transfr, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the backend infrastructure and services used by VR training simulations.
• You will collaborate with various teams to define data contracts and endpoints, capture events, and perform analytics to enhance the learning experience for trainees.
• Working closely with product managers and VR developers, you will implement services supporting new training simulation features.
• Your expertise in microservices architecture, data contracts, and analytics will be crucial for ensuring the reliability, scalability, and performance of backend platform services.
• Responsibilities include designing high-performance, scalable backend services, defining data contracts for simulation scoring, optimizing the platform pipeline, ensuring code quality and security, troubleshooting backend issues, and providing technical leadership to junior engineers.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
• 2 to 4 years of experience in designing, building, and maintaining large-scale backend systems
• Proficiency in cloud infrastructure services like AWS, GCP, or Azure
• Strong background in designing high-throughput low-latency distributed systems
• Proven experience with RESTful APIs and Python as a server-side language
• Knowledge of relational database technologies, particularly PostgreSQL
• Familiarity with AWS services such as Fargate, Lambda, S3, Kinesis, SQS, and RDS
• Experience with containerization technologies like Docker
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot issues effectively
• Agile environment experience and collaboration with cross-functional teams
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Benefits:

• The base salary range for this position is expected to be between $130,000 and $150,000, with the actual amount dependent on factors like credentials, experience, and location.
