Tamber helps with various aspects of music creation, including songwriting, arrangement, production, DAW control, and intelligent music discovery.
The company is hiring a Backend Engineer / Tech Lead to build and scale its backend infrastructure for AI-powered music tools.
This is a hands-on engineering leadership role responsible for backend architecture, cloud infrastructure, real-time systems, security, and ML model deployment.
As the first backend hire and technical leader, the individual will work directly with the Founder & CEO, the frontend engineer, and the AI/ML engineer.
The role involves setting the foundation for Tamber’s backend and making key decisions on scalability, security, and system performance.
Requirements:
Candidates must have 7+ years of experience in software engineering, with a focus on backend development.
A minimum of 3+ years of technical leadership experience is required, leading teams or major engineering initiatives.
Strong backend development skills in Python and/or Node.js are essential.
Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS EC2, Firebase, or similar is necessary.
A deep understanding of API architecture, database design (PostgreSQL, Redis), and distributed systems is required.
Candidates should have experience with real-time systems, including WebSockets, event-driven architectures, and message queues like Kafka or RabbitMQ.
Strong security knowledge, including OAuth, JWT, IAM policies, and compliance best practices, is important.
Familiarity with AI/ML model deployment and optimizing inference is preferred.
The ability to design and optimize scalable microservices with a focus on performance and maintainability is required.
A passion for music technology and an understanding of music/audio storage and processing is a plus but not mandatory.
Excellent communication skills are necessary to translate complex technical challenges into clear solutions.
Candidates must be able to work independently, take ownership, and execute in a fast-paced startup environment.
Benefits:
Employees will have the opportunity to shape the future of music by joining an early-stage, mission-driven team.
The role offers high autonomy and ownership, allowing the individual to set technical direction and make key architectural decisions.
Competitive compensation is provided, with a salary range of $185,000-$210,000 based on experience and impact, along with meaningful equity options.
The company promotes a remote-first culture, allowing employees to work from anywhere while collaborating with a transparent and innovative team.
Employees will work at the intersection of AI, music, and human-computer interaction, developing tools that empower musicians.
