Description:
Virta Health is on a mission to transform type 2 diabetes and weight-loss care by helping people reverse their metabolic conditions through technology, personalized nutrition, and virtual care delivery.
As a Backend Engineer, you will build reliable systems, improve data accuracy across member, client, and operational workflows, and automate critical processes for seamless care and transparent reporting.
Your work will enable faster decision-making, reduce manual processes, and ensure data is accurate, accessible, and ready to support internal teams and external partners.
You will build and enhance scalable Golang microservices for eligibility, coverage, billing, and client-facing systems.
You will automate and streamline operational workflows to reduce manual data handling and improve data accuracy and availability.
You will design and deliver self-service tools for finance, operations, and client teams to manage processes independently.
You will ensure member, client, and operational data is accurate, consistent, and traceable for internal decision-making and external reporting.
You will collaborate with data and AI teams to explore opportunities for AI applications in data validation, process automation, and anomaly detection.
You will contribute to client-facing APIs for seamless data exchange between Virta and customers.
Requirements:
You must have 5-7 years of experience shipping backend code in a high-quality production environment, with exposure to data-centric systems.
You should have experience building microservices in production.
You need experience with data and event-based architectures, including API development, SQL/NoSQL datastores, and messaging queues.
Proficiency in Golang is required.
You should have experience with a cloud platform such as Google Cloud, AWS, or Azure.
Strong communication skills are necessary, with a proven history of interfacing with both technical and non-technical business-level stakeholders.
You should be a champion of long-term thinking and strive to make a business impact without sacrificing engineering quality.
Benefits:
The compensation range for this role is $145,491 - $187,900, based on qualifications and experience.
