Description:
- Parse.ly is seeking talented backend engineers to join their backend engineering team.
- The role involves mastering data engineering technologies like Apache Spark, Storm, Kafka, and Elasticsearch while writing code in Python.
- The team is responsible for a real-time analytics infrastructure that processes over 2 million page views per minute from more than 5,000 high-traffic sites.
- The backend systems operate on a fleet of cloud servers with thousands of cores for live data processing.
- The position requires expanding into petabyte-scale data analysis while ensuring uptime, reliability, and performance of backend streaming data systems.

- Responsibilities include writing Python code, analyzing large datasets, brainstorming product ideas, mastering cloud technologies, and participating in on-call rotations.
Requirements:
- Candidates must have strong knowledge of Python and a commitment to clean coding practices.
- An excitement for working with large-scale data systems (petabyte scale) is essential.
- Understanding and interest in building and working on distributed systems is required.
- Experience with databases such as Elasticsearch, Redis, Cassandra, and PostgreSQL is necessary.
- Strong written communication skills are a must.
- Candidates should be comfortable with on-call rotations.
- Applicants must be located in North America, South America, or western EMEA (within 5 hours of UTC-5).
