Description:

This position is for a Backend Software Engineer on the Stores team at Canonical, a growing international software company.
The role involves developing and operating backend services that power the Snap Store and Charmhub.io marketplaces.
The services are primarily built in Python, with some components in Golang.
The engineer will collaborate remotely with a globally distributed team.
Responsibilities include writing clean web service APIs for CLI and web frontend clients, designing and implementing new features, reviewing code, and collaborating on solutions.
The position requires remote work with occasional global travel for 2 to 4 weeks for internal and external events.

Requirements:

Candidates must have demonstrated professional proficiency in developing public-facing APIs and web applications using Python.
A broad technology base is required, with a preference for backend code and infrastructure.
Familiarity with relational and non-relational databases is essential, including the ability to design effective data models and tune queries.
Comfort with Ubuntu as a development and deployment platform is necessary.
Strong academic performance in Computer Science, STEM, or a similar degree is required.
