Description:

Tempus is seeking a highly motivated bioinformatics scientist with a focus on translational cancer research and transcriptomic algorithm optimization and validation.
The role involves designing and conducting analyses to enhance variant calling, classification, and analysis systems.
The scientist will translate insights from model systems into predictors and classifiers of therapeutic response and prognosis in clinical cancer care.
Responsibilities include leading collaborations with scientists and clinicians to analyze cancer clinical sequencing data to improve quality of care.
The position requires leading an interdisciplinary group of scientists and engineers to translate research into clinically actionable insights.
The scientist will develop algorithms to analyze next-generation sequencing data for insights into cancer variation.
Effective communication with outside scientific teams and internal leadership is essential.
The role includes producing high-quality documentation for all projects and providing thought leadership for analytical and clinical validation experiments.
The scientist will also plan, review, and guide team members' contributions toward best practices and organizational goals.

Requirements:

A Ph.D. in Cancer Biology or Molecular Biology related to cancer is required.
Proficiency in scientific programming, relational data systems, algorithms development, data modeling, and statistical modeling is necessary.
Computational skills using Python and/or R are essential.
Experience in cancer genetics, immunology, or molecular biology is preferred.
Candidates should have experience working with multi-omics next-generation sequencing data.
The ideal candidate should be self-driven and able to work well in interdisciplinary teams.

The expected salary range for this role is $120,000—$160,000 USD, varying by location and based on qualifications and experience.
