Description:
As a Cassandra Database Consultant at Pythian, your primary focus will be on project work, debugging performance degradations, audits, and health checks.
You will be included in a third tier on-call rotation with other Consultants to respond to escalations once trained.
You will be expected to provide training and mentoring to junior team members.
Your responsibilities include designing and helping implement new Cassandra deployments.
You will evaluate existing clusters and provide recommendations on best practices.
You will debug high priority issues on mission-critical production environments.
You will be involved with the Cassandra community through user lists, IRC, blog posts, webinars, and open source projects.
You will contribute to rapid brainstorming, designing, and developing prototypes.
You will automate and provide documentation on operational procedures.
You will provide performance and forecast reports on the health and load of critical business processes to ensure adequate infrastructure capacity.
You will participate in company and team meetings.
Requirements:
You must have experience with NoSQL databases such as Cassandra, Solr, HBase, Hadoop, or Riak, with a preference for Cassandra experience.
You should have experience with at least one programming language such as Java, Go, C#, C++, Ruby, or Python, with a preference for Java.
You need strong knowledge and experience of web applications, distributed systems, and databases.
You should have experience with multiple orchestration and configuration management systems.
Familiarity with multiple monitoring/alerting and metric collection systems is required.
You must have knowledge of continuous integration and automation practices.
