Description:

  • Loka is seeking a Cheminformatics Engineer specializing in machine learning and artificial intelligence to drive projects for small molecule research.
  • The role involves providing domain expertise and thought leadership, participating in scoping calls to shape project design, and developing deep learning models based on various architectures such as GNNs and Transformers.
  • The engineer will understand clients' business objectives and develop models to help achieve them, along with metrics to track progress.
  • Responsibilities include designing and implementing complex machine learning systems, leading client communications, analyzing model errors, and deploying, maintaining, and upgrading ML models and pipelines.
  • The position requires following Loka’s career track for growth by demonstrating technical excellence, innovation, autonomy, ownership, communication, and teamwork.

Requirements:

  • A PhD in Bioinformatics, Chemistry, Bioengineering, or a similar field is required, preferably with a focus on Cheminformatics; MSc candidates with extensive expertise are also suitable.
  • Experience in drug discovery and machine learning is highly desirable.
  • A strong understanding of deep learning for molecular property prediction and lead optimization is necessary.
  • Extensive knowledge of computational chemistry and/or structure-based design is required.
  • Experience with Open Source Cheminformatics packages (e.g., RDKit), chemical workflow environments, and machine learning on chemical data and databases is essential.
  • Excellent communication skills to build effective relationships with internal and external parties are required.
  • The candidate must demonstrate the ability to partner and collaborate effectively with research teams and drug discovery functions.
  • Proficiency in English is mandatory, along with a clean criminal record and a CV submitted in English.
