Remote Cloud and DevOps Engineer

Description:

• Fonemed is seeking a Cloud & DevOps Engineer to build and maintain scalable, secure, and compliant infrastructure for their global operations.
• The role is full-time and remote, with an application deadline of April 16.
• Key responsibilities include designing, implementing, and maintaining infrastructure using AWS services such as CloudFormation, Lambda, Cognito, S3, and DynamoDB.
• The engineer will build and manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for consistent, secure, and auditable deployments.
• Support for serverless architectures and event-driven systems using AWS-native tools is required.
• Ongoing support and maintenance for a legacy platform hosted in AWS using traditional architectures like VPC, EC2, and RDS is expected.
• The role involves developing and managing CI/CD pipelines using Bitbucket for automated deployments.
• Monitoring, securing, and optimizing cloud environments for availability, performance, and cost-efficiency is essential.
• Administering access control and user identity management via AWS IAM and Cognito is part of the job.
• Collaboration with software development teams to improve release pipelines and operational processes is necessary.
• Ensuring compliance with HIPAA, SOC 2, and FedRAMP is a key responsibility.
• Participation in incident response and root cause analysis, along with leading infrastructure improvements, is required.
• The engineer will track and manage tasks and sprints using Jira and maintain documentation related to deployments, configurations, and cloud infrastructure.

Requirements:

• A bachelor’s degree or diploma in Software Development or a relevant discipline is required; a combination of education and experience will be considered.
• Candidates must have 3+ years of experience in a DevOps, Cloud Engineering, or Infrastructure role within a SaaS or regulated environment.
• Hands-on expertise with AWS, including modern serverless components and traditional infrastructure (VPC, EC2, RDS), is necessary.
• Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code tools and practices, such as CloudFormation, is required.
• Experience in implementing and supporting secure, scalable multi-tenant cloud environments is essential.
• A working knowledge of CI/CD automation, preferably using Bitbucket Pipelines, is needed.
• Familiarity with HIPAA, SOC 2, and FedRAMP compliance standards and practices is required.
• Experience with monitoring and observability tools, such as CloudWatch, is necessary.
• Exposure to Node.js, React, and/or React Native is preferred.
• AWS Certifications (e.g., Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer) are considered an asset.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with a collaborative and proactive mindset are essential.
