Description:

  • Egen is a fast-growing company with a data-first mindset, focused on engineering talent and advanced technology platforms like Google Cloud and Salesforce.
  • The company seeks a highly skilled and motivated Cloud Cost (FinOps) Engineer to develop cloud-based high-performance computing (HPC) platforms for life sciences research and development.
  • The role involves designing and implementing solutions to collect, process, and visualize cloud cost data.
  • Responsibilities include collaborating with FinOps analysts to manage and optimize cloud expenditures, enabling effective monitoring of computing platforms for decision-making and financial accountability.
  • The position requires working closely with platform engineers and computational scientists to capture the right metrics and provide stakeholders with necessary information for budgeting and planning.
  • This is a fully remote position for US-based candidates, requiring work during US west coast standard hours (9-5pm PST/PDT).

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in AWS platforms, with a deep understanding of tagging strategies.
  • Prior expertise with cloud cost management tools and data sources, such as AWS Cost Explorer and IBM Cloudability.
  • Strong software engineering background with proficiency in a high-level programming language like Python.
  • Experience in creating and managing dashboards using reporting platforms such as Grafana and Elastic Stack/ELK.
  • Experience in automation and integrating various data sources and systems using ETL/ELT patterns.
  • Excellent analytical skills to process complex datasets and translate them into actionable insights.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively across different teams.
  • Preferred qualifications include 5+ years in engineering, solution architecture, or DevOps, with a successful project delivery track record.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment and independently when required.
  • Nice to have: Basic understanding of Unix concepts and Linux environments, and basic understanding of HPC concepts and environments.
