Description:

The company seeks a highly skilled and motivated Cloud Cost (FinOps) Engineer to develop cloud-based high-performance computing (HPC) platforms for life sciences research and development.
The role involves designing and implementing solutions to collect, process, and visualize cloud cost data.
Responsibilities include collaborating with FinOps analysts to manage and optimize cloud expenditures, enabling effective monitoring of computing platforms for decision-making and financial accountability.
The position requires working closely with platform engineers and computational scientists to capture the right metrics and provide stakeholders with necessary information for budgeting and planning.
This is a fully remote position for US-based candidates, requiring work during US west coast standard hours (9-5pm PST/PDT).
Requirements:
Proven experience in AWS platforms, with a deep understanding of tagging strategies.
Prior expertise with cloud cost management tools and data sources, such as AWS Cost Explorer and IBM Cloudability.
Strong software engineering background with proficiency in a high-level programming language like Python.
Experience in creating and managing dashboards using reporting platforms such as Grafana and Elastic Stack/ELK.
Experience in automation and integrating various data sources and systems using ETL/ELT patterns.
Excellent analytical skills to process complex datasets and translate them into actionable insights.
Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively across different teams.
Preferred qualifications include 5+ years in engineering, solution architecture, or DevOps, with a successful project delivery track record.
Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment and independently when required.
Nice to have: Basic understanding of Unix concepts and Linux environments, and basic understanding of HPC concepts and environments.
