Description:
As Marqeta’s Cloud Database Engineer II, you will build and work on the next generation of database solutions.
Cloud Database Engineering owns the Tier-1, 2, and 3 business-critical relational and non-relational databases at Marqeta.
You will have the opportunity to make a significant contribution to Marqeta’s next-generation, highly available and resilient database solutions.
You will contribute to the technical vision for database engineering in maintenance and Cloud migration of the relational and non-relational databases used at Marqeta.
You will design high availability and disaster recovery solutions for database architecture to ensure 99.99% availability.
You will work on initiatives including platform architecture, backup and recovery, disaster recovery, multi-AZ, and multi-region support for the database footprint.
You will keep automation as the primary focus and ensure the design is tightly coupled with various automation to reduce manual work.
You will work on modernizing database designs and implementations to increase reliability, resiliency, and scalability of the platform.
You will collaborate with engineers from various teams to execute on short- and long-term technical vision.
You will perform root cause analysis, remediation, and document efforts to effectively minimize incidents.
Requirements:
You should have 3-5 years of experience as a backend engineer and a Bachelor's degree or an advanced degree with no relevant experience. In lieu of a degree, 5+ years of relevant experience may suffice.
You must be experienced in Cloud native databases, preferably AWS.
You should have experience with transactional RDBMS such as AWS-Aurora, AWS-RDS MySQL, Percona MySQL, Postgres, and DynamoDB.
You must have experience in cloud-based high availability and disaster recovery solutions.
You should be experienced in IaC, automation, and orchestration tools such as Ansible, Terraform, SpaceLift, AWS Step Function, and CloudFormation.
You should possess a team-oriented approach and be able to effectively work on a project and cross-functionally with other teams.

The new-hire base salary range for this position varies by tier, with National ranging from $88,125 - $117,500, Premium from $99,150 - $132,200, and Premium Plus from $110,138 - $146,850.
