Description:
LivePerson is seeking a Cloud Database Engineer II to evolve their database and data storage systems.
The role involves understanding the design and architecture of new highly-available and fault-tolerant cloud-based databases and redesigning existing systems.
Responsibilities include collaborating with the team, taking ownership of complex solutions, and delivering high-quality results.
The engineer will investigate complex problems in a distributed architecture, explain root causes, and propose solutions.
The position requires making recommendations to address capacity issues and limit the impact of stressed clusters.
The engineer will work with database clients to optimize queries and evolve data models.
Advocacy for solutions that enable teams to launch quality software quickly is essential.
The role includes automating database infrastructure and providing self-service tools to support engineering success.
Requirements:
A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent training or work experience is required.
A minimum of 5 years of experience in building successful production software systems is necessary.
Experience in configuring database systems such as MySQL, Cassandra, Couchbase, Elasticsearch, and NoSQL is required.
Ideal candidates will have experience configuring and administering BI database systems like Vertica.
Experience managing database systems in a hybrid cloud environment (both on-prem and public cloud) is essential.
Familiarity with distributed event streaming platforms, particularly Kafka, is required.
Candidates should have experience creating scalable and fault-tolerant architectures.
Experience with distributed persistent systems and asynchronous messaging is necessary.
Proven ability to tune distributed systems for improved performance under high traffic volumes is required.
Candidates must demonstrate the ability to work effectively in a fully remote environment with global teams.
Relevant certifications, such as AWS Certification or Google Cloud Platform Certification, are a plus.
