Description:
The Cloud Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, automating, deploying, and operating production-grade services on various cloud vendors and infrastructure platforms for Smile Digital Health, its clients, and partners.
This position collaborates with cross-functional teams to build and deliver complex and highly available cloud and platform solutions for internal and external projects.
The role involves providing recommendations and expertise related to cloud and platform provisioning within the organization.
Participation in cloud and infrastructure deployments and delivery is required, providing subject matter expertise on infrastructure-related components.
The Cloud Engineer will develop and maintain infrastructure code for various solutions and provide support to clients or partners on Smile-supported infrastructure codes.
Maintaining documentation, forms, and processes to support Smile Digital Health business needs is essential, including technical documentation, standard operating procedures, implementation plans, and root cause analyses.
The position requires participation in sprint, project, and department planning for technology implementations and transformation.
Contributions to tooling capability assessments, proof of concepts, and technology roadmaps are necessary to ensure adherence to industry best practices.
The role includes leveraging novel cloud and platform technologies to enhance operations, maintenance, and security across the organization.
Participation in an on-call rotation to provide application and infrastructure support, incident management, and troubleshooting is required.
The Cloud Engineer is accountable for ensuring that all working hours are accurately reported in Netsuite and that project management tools are properly utilized.
Compliance with privacy, security, and confidentiality policies is mandatory.
Requirements:
A minimum of 5 years of experience in information technology, devops, infrastructure maintenance, system administration, cloud development, platform engineering, and/or automation development is required.
At least 3 years of experience supporting and developing templates and code for Kubernetes services, including HELM, Kustomize, and Kubernetes manifest files, is necessary.
A minimum of 2 years of experience in a role supporting and maintaining critical infrastructure, troubleshooting support escalations, and ensuring key KPIs is required.
Candidates must demonstrate deep knowledge of a multitude of Cloud services with hands-on experience building critical infrastructure from scratch.
Proven experience with building, maintaining, troubleshooting, and supporting Kubernetes and serverless infrastructure is essential, including the ability to build new clusters and migrate applications.
Experience with scripting and programming languages such as Powershell, Python, and Bash is required.
Candidates must have proven experience translating architecture and technical requirements into new cloud infrastructure.
Intermediate certifications in Cloud are required, including associate-level certifications in AWS, Azure, and GCP, with professional-level certifications preferred.
Kubernetes-related certifications, including but not limited to CKA, CKD, and CKS, are necessary.
Broad experience with various infrastructure core technologies, including security, networking, database, data streaming, deployment automation and tooling, monitoring, logging, alerting, and observability, is required.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work with and support clients are essential.
Demonstrated experience in maintaining documentation, including procedures, build books, and technical standards, is required.
