Remote Cloud Engineer, DBA

Description:

• The Cloud Engineer – DBA position focuses on technical database technologies within a cloud-native environment, utilizing a variety of tools in a DevOps setting.
• This is a full-time remote position.
• Responsibilities include solving complex problems and troubleshooting issues quickly.
• The role requires a passion for learning and understanding new concepts and technologies.
• Candidates should take pride in the quality and timeliness of their work.
• The position involves knowing when to escalate cases and deriving outcomes that resolve both tactical and some strategic resolutions.
• The engineer will address service outages as they occur, including after hours and weekends.
• When performance issues arise, the engineer will determine the most effective ways to increase performance, including hardware changes, server configuration changes, or index/query changes.
• Attention to detail and order is crucial for tracking and following up on tasks/issues.
• The ideal candidate is highly motivated, focused, energetic, and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
• There is an emphasis on enthusiasm for automating database maintenance and monitoring tasks.

Requirements:

• A Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience is required.
• Candidates should have an understanding or experience in relational and OLAP style databases, including knowledge of transactional, NoSQL, and analytical database operating principles and methodology.
• Familiarity with SQL Server (2016+), MongoDB database (3.x – 5.x), and big data databases and cloud technologies like BigQuery and CloudSQL is necessary.
• The role requires the ability to design and implement effective database solutions and models (both SQL and non-SQL) to store and retrieve company data.
• Experience in tuning queries to improve performance is essential.
• Previous experience in production environments and being on-call is required.
• Candidates should have experience building and maintaining documentation.
• Knowledge of storage and server hardware is a plus.
• Linux experience is also a plus.
• The candidate must be capable of supporting database migrations and applying patches as needed.
