The company seeks a Cloud File Storage Engineer to develop scalable file storage solutions for cloud-based High Performance Computing (HPC) platforms.
The ideal candidate should have a strong background in traditional parallel filesystems like GPFS and Lustre, as well as modern cloud-native storage solutions such as S3, EFS, FSx, and ElastiCache.
Candidates must be comfortable with Amazon Web Services concepts, infrastructure as code, and CI/CD pipelines.
The role involves designing, building, and maintaining storage infrastructure for life sciences research initiatives.
Collaboration with computational scientists and engineers is essential to ensure a robust and scalable platform.
The engineer will ensure secure implementation of solutions for sensitive data storage.
The position is fully remote, but requires working during US west coast standard hours (9-5pm PST/PDT).
Requirements:
Candidates must have a deep understanding of AWS services and best practices for building scalable, secure, and cost-effective cloud environments.
Proven experience with DevOps practices, including infrastructure as code (Terraform, Ansible) and CI/CD (GitLab CI/CD) is required.
Prior experience integrating storage with identity and access management solutions such as Active Directory and IAM Identity Center is necessary.
Proficiency with Git and experience managing code repositories is essential.
Expert level proficiency with POSIX file systems and NFS semantics is required.
Candidates should have proficiency with POSIX I/O profiling for high performance workloads.
Expert level proficiency in at least one high performance/parallel file system technology such as Weka, Lustre, GPFS, Ceph, or JuiceFS is needed.
A robust understanding of storage redundancy, availability, and durability principles is essential.
High proficiency with Amazon S3 object storage is required.
Some prior experience with AWS managed services for file storage, such as EFS, FSx for Lustre, or FSx for OpenZFS is necessary.
Knowledge of security best practices in cloud environments and experience implementing them is required.
