Description:
Conception is seeking a Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to join their team, with the option to work remotely or from Berkeley.
The ideal candidate should have 3-5 years of experience in the field and expertise in Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
Responsibilities include maintaining and extending existing GCP-based compute infrastructure, leveraging Terraform and infrastructure-as-code best practices, and applying software and security updates to infrastructure components.
The engineer will also maintain cloud-based data storage infrastructure, ensuring data integrity and retention, and improve the PostgreSQL database of biological sample metadata.
Additional duties involve building and maintaining automated workflows for timely data processing and leading a diverse portfolio of infrastructure projects to support bioinformatic and bench scientists at Conception.
Requirements:
Candidates must have 3-5 years of experience as a Cloud Infrastructure Engineer or in a similar role.
A GCP Cloud Associate certification or higher is required.
Proficiency in Linux system administration is necessary.
Candidates should be skilled in Terraform, bash, and python.
Familiarity with CI/CD practices for code deployment is essential.
Experience with task automation tools and standard container tooling such as Docker, Singularity, and Nextflow is required.
The ability to independently scope and lead projects is necessary.
Proactive skills in seeking input, gathering requirements, identifying potential problems, and assisting others are important.
