Remote Cloud Security Engineer

Description:

• City Electric Supply is seeking a Cloud Security Engineer with a strong focus on AWS Cloud Development Kit (CDK).
• This role is highly development-focused and involves writing infrastructure-as-code primarily using AWS CDK with TypeScript.
• The engineer will codify security policies and reusable modules, collaborating closely with cloud and security engineers to implement secure, scalable cloud infrastructure.
• Essential job functions include designing, developing, and maintaining infrastructure as code with an emphasis on security best practices.
• The engineer will serve as the primary individual codifying security policies and controls into reusable CDK constructs and modules.
• Responsibilities include collaborating with engineering teams to define and implement CDK patterns and guardrails across multi-account AWS environments.
• The role requires writing and supporting Python-based automation tools and integrating them with CDK stacks for secure deployment.
• The engineer will support and mentor other engineers in prioritizing and implementing security initiatives within cloud environments.
• Building technical solutions and security guardrails for CI/CD pipelines is also a key responsibility.
• The engineer will work closely with cloud, security, and DevOps teams to align CDK-based infrastructure deployments with governance and compliance requirements.
• Additional tasks include investigating and remediating cloud security risks, driving IaC governance, and documenting project workflows and security policies.

Requirements:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience is required.
• Candidates must have 5+ years of professional experience in cloud security or infrastructure engineering.
• A minimum of 2–3 years of hands-on experience designing and deploying infrastructure using AWS CDK is necessary.
• Proficiency in TypeScript for CDK development and Python for automation tooling is required.
• Strong experience with AWS serverless services such as Lambda, API Gateway, Step Functions, and DynamoDB is essential.
• Candidates should demonstrate the ability to build reusable CDK constructs and modules that scale across environments.
• Experience supporting or leading security-first IaC initiatives in an enterprise environment is preferred.
• Familiarity with Terraform is also preferred.
