Description:
The Cloud Systems Engineer I will support GAMA-1's growing Cloud Services practice.
The successful candidate will help drive efforts to support customers' strategic cloud initiatives aimed at increasing IT efficiency, improving IT delivery, and reducing costs.
Responsibilities include directing cloud administrative duties within a cloud environment, which encompasses compute, storage, notification and queue management, and infrastructure as Code (IaC).
The candidate will assemble and document agile-related artifacts from user studies and backlog management activities.
Guidance will be provided regarding infrastructure movement techniques, including application transfer/migration into the cloud.
The role involves developing cloud business best practices and processes.
The engineer will work directly with multiple teams and business units to understand business needs and translate them into IT/business capabilities.
Participation in the UAT and development process is required as needed.
Other duties may be assigned as necessary.
Requirements:
A minimum of 2 years of experience administrating cloud compute, storage, and infrastructure as Code (IaC) is required.
Proficiency in coding languages such as Perl, Java, PowerShell, PHP, Ruby, and Python is necessary.
Hands-on experience with cloud services and containerization technologies, including building Docker Container Images, scripting languages, and job scheduling tools, is essential.
Experience with Amazon Web Services, code-defined infrastructure, configuration management tools, and CI/CD is required.
Familiarity with AWS Lambda and “Serverless” systems is necessary.
Experience in large-scale enterprise IT environments is preferred.
Strong verbal and communication skills are essential for working with senior leadership and across organizational teams.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to explain technical issues in layman's terms, are required.
Excellent communication and writing skills are necessary.
Federal government experience is desired.
Working knowledge of Jira projects, workflows, issue types, permissions, and notifications is preferred.
A BS/BA in Computer Science or a related field, or 4+ years of experience supporting AWS, is required.
Preferred certifications include AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate and Architect with Google Cloud Platform: Infrastructure.

The base salary range for this position is $106,703.56 to $150,413.45, determined by various factors including experience, education, and market conditions.
